Organic Weed Killer

Mixing together an organic weed killer can be as easy as looking around your kitchen. All the ingredients you need to get rid of those pesky lawn and garden weeds are probably already in your house, it’s just a matter of gathering them up and mixing them together in their proper proportions.

If you have kids and/or pets then what you put on your lawn should be of concern to you. The idea behind a homemade natural weed killer is that it is environmentally safe and poses little threat to your loved ones safety. While commercially made herbicides are considered safe by their manufacturers and governmental agencies that regulate them it is still not known what repeated exposure may do to the human body.

With that in mind here is a quick and easy weed killing recipe that uses three common household items found in your kitchen.

Take:

• 1 gallon of white vinegar
• 1 cup of table salt
• 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap

That’s all you need. Take these three items in their measured quantities and mix together making sure that the salt completely dissolves. The best way to apply this organic weed killing mixture is with a spray bottle or a pressurized sprayer that can be found at any garden supply store.

On a hot day spray your mixture directly on any weeds or other plants that you need to eradicate. Try no to get it on any plant life you want to keep alive as it is a non-selective weed control solution and will kill any plant it comes in contact with. It is also a good idea to avoid getting to much on the soil as it will sterilize the soil for a good amount of time depending on how much gets in the dirt.

To avoid damaging or killing your desirable plants consider wiping the solution on the leafy parts of the weeds you wish to kill. This will take extra time but it is a good way to avoid unwanted exposure to its effects. If you choose to apply this weed killer using this method be sure to wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.
